Today we are going into detail about a crucial aspect of the certification, which is the Vegan Guest Services Course. This is an online course recording that all employees have access to once a property is certified. While most vegan related training courses target the kitchen staff, our course is relevant for all employees, including front of house, back of house, management, housekeeping, spa, marketing, and more. We believe that everyone has a role to play in understanding and optimizing the vegan guest experience, and that all employees should have access to professional development opportunities.

How is the course delivered?

The course is delivered as a 30 minute video recording, that was recorded by our COO Hayley Cooper. The slides were informed by our team’s 35+ years of hospitality experience and our own experience as vegan guests ourselves (yes, our team is all vegan, so we understand both the professional experience and the guest experience intimately.)

The recording comes along with an email template with suggested wording that management can utilize when sending out the recording to employees. In the password protected course portal, employees will also have access to download their certificate of completion once they have watched the recording. We partner with a third-party data-secure company that manages our certificates, which allows each certificate to be validated with its own unique code. The ensures that your employees have a reputable and valuable certificate with your company’s name on it, showcasing the professional development opportunity they received while employed by your company. Employees will also be prompted automatically to share their new certificate on social media. Our certificates are also LinkedIn compatible, prompting employees to use their unique code to add their certificate to the “Certificates” section of their LinkedIn profiles.

What does the course cover?

Topics of the course include both broad overviews of the vegan guest experience as well as intricate details such as understanding vegan wines and cruelty-free housekeeping practices. Overall, your employees will learn to:

  • Get to know your vegan and plant based guests

  • Understand their unique role in curating the guest experience

  • Understand the vegan lifestyle, dietary requests & top allergens, as well as the difference between vegan, plant-based, and vegetarian

  • Learn about vegan friendly rooms, decor and activities

  • Avoid common mistakes when serving vegan guests

  • Manage guest expectations to receive top reviews
